Flint Hills Resources to Acquire Nebraska Biodiesel Plant

Flint Hills Resources is acquiring an idled biodiesel plant in Beatrice, Neb., through a bankruptcy sale. The Nebraska Bankruptcy Court approved the company’s bid today.

The Beatrice plant was built in 2008 but was never in service. The plant is designed to produce 50 million gallons of biodiesel annually.

Flint Hills Resources will explore the possibility of retrofitting the facility with technology designed to improve the cost effectiveness of biodiesel production.

The acquisition is expected to close in mid-December. Flint Hills Resources expects it will take several months to evaluate the site before determining a path forward.
